Job Summary:

The candidate specializing in High-Throughput Screening (HTS) will lead the development and execution of screening strategies to identify and validate new drug candidates. This role requires extensive experience in HTS, HTS adaptation, compound and reagent management, and a strong background in drug discovery processes, budgets, and timelines. The candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor junior scientists, and contribute to the strategic direction of the drug discovery programs with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Strategy:

    • Lead Screening campaigns team in designing, optimizing, collaborating and executing high-throughput screening assays for both internal efforts and with CRO and other partners.
    • Develop and implement innovative screening strategies to accelerate drug discovery efforts.
    • Contribute to the strategic planning and decision-making process for drug discovery projects.

Assay Adaptation and execution of screening campaigns including HIT ID and HIT-to-Lead and Lead optimization efforts for primary and secondary assays:

  • Design, validate, and execute robust, reproducible, and scalable assays for high-throughput screening.
Implement cutting-edge technologies and methodologies to improve screening efficiency and data quality.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to assay performance and data integrity.
  • Generate data for both primary and secondary assays to allow for data-driven decisions.
  • Compound management
  • Management of critical biological reagents with accurate inventory: Enzymes/proteins/cell lines, critical screening/assay reagents for all screening efforts.
  • Assays in will be in both cell-based and biochemical formats

Data Analysis and Interpretation:

  • Oversee the analysis and uploading of large datasets generated from all screens and routine HIT ID and HIT-to-Lead and Lead optimization efforts for primary and secondary assays completed internally and externally.
  • Interpret screening results to identify and prioritize potential drug candidates.
  • Collaborate with bioinformatics and cheminformatics teams to integrate screening data with other datasets.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders; medicinal chemists, biologists, pharmacologists, and others to advance drug discovery projects.
  • Present findings and updates to senior management, project teams, and external partners.
  • Foster a collaborative and productive work environment within the HTS team and across departments.

Mentorship and Development:

  • Mentor and train junior scientists and research associates in screening methodologies and best practices.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and scientific excellence within the team.

Project Management:

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality results.
  • Prepare project plans, timelines, and budgets for HTS activities.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
